What Information We Collect

• Profile information: bio, photos, location, pickup times and social links
• Location data: GPS coordinates to show nearby listings and calculate food miles saved
• Transaction data: purchase history and order details
• Verification documents: photo ID, selfie and proof of address (sellers only)
• Communications: messages between buyers and sellers
• Device information: push notification tokens

• To provide and improve the GroIT marketplace
• To connect buyers with local sellers
• To process transactions and maintain purchase history
• To calculate food miles saved and award Green Points
• To verify seller identities for food safety and community trust
• To send relevant notifications about orders and listings
• To ensure the safety and security of our community

Location Data

GroIT uses your location to show nearby produce listings and calculate distances between buyers and sellers. Your precise location is never sold to third parties. You can update or remove your location at any time in Profile → Edit Profile.

Verification Documents

Seller verification documents are stored securely and are only accessed by GroIT administrators for verification purposes. They are never shared with buyers or third parties.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. Your username, profile photo, listings and reviews are visible to other GroIT users. We use Supabase for secure data storage and infrastructure. We may share information if required by law.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where required for legal or accounting purposes.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data. To exercise these rights contact us at hello@groit.io. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
